Troubleshooting Publishing Issues
Having trouble publishing your articles? This guide covers the most common issues and how to resolve them quickly.
Common Publishing Blockers
1. Missing Required Fields
Articles require certain fields to be completed before publishing:
- Title - Every article needs a title
- Content - The article body cannot be empty
- Category - Select at least one category
- Featured Image - Some CMS platforms require this
Solution: Review your article and fill in all required fields marked with an asterisk (*).
2. CMS Connection Issues
If your CMS connection is broken, articles won't publish:
- Check if your CMS credentials are still valid
- Verify your website URL is correct
- Ensure your CMS API is accessible
Solution: Go to Settings → Connections and reconnect your CMS.
3. Credit Limits Reached
Each plan has publishing limits. If you've reached your limit:
- Wait until your credits reset (usually monthly)
- Upgrade to a higher plan for more credits
- Check your usage in Settings → Billing
4. Draft Status Not Changed
Articles must be marked as "Ready to Publish" before they can be published. Check the status dropdown in the article editor.
How to Check CMS Connection Status
- Go to Settings → Connections
- Look for a green checkmark next to your CMS
- If you see a red X, click "Reconnect"
- Follow the prompts to re-authorize
Manual vs Scheduled Publishing
- Manual Publishing: Click "Publish Now" to immediately push to your CMS
- Scheduled Publishing: Set a future date/time and the article will publish automatically
Note: Scheduled articles require an active CMS connection at the scheduled time.
